Ballantyne Village and American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Ballantyne Announce Long-Term Partnership

Charlotte N.C. - The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Ballantyne has announced a long-term partnership with Ballantyne Village and its Village Cares program. The partnership will feature the Ballantyne Relay at various events coordinated by Ballantyne Village to help increase awareness about Relay For Life and provide information to the Ballantyne community about supporting the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life.

The partnership will also provide a venue for signature Relay events leading up to the next Ballantyne Relay, which will be held on June 3, 2016 at Ardrey Kell High School. This year's Relay theme will be a "Birthday Bash" celebrating more survivors and more cancer-free birthdays. It will also coincide with the 5th "birthday" of Relay For Life of Ballantyne.

"We're honored to partner with Ballantyne Village and feel it is a perfect way for the Ballantyne community to learn about the mission of the American Cancer Society and how to get involved through Relay For Life," said Taylor Jones, Relay For Life of Ballantyne marketing chair.

Ed Camp, general manager and marketing manager for Ballantyne Village added, "Unfortunately, we all have been touched by the terrible disease that is cancer, and we're pleased to provide this forum as a way for our guests to learn ways they can help fight the battle. It is important for the community to be aware, educated, and to get involved with the efforts of the American Cancer Society."

About the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Ballantyne

For the past five years, Relay For Life of Ballantyne has helped bring the Ballantyne, Pineville and South Charlotte communities together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to the disease, and fight back through advocacy and raising money for cancer research. Recently, the Relay For Life of Ballantyne was recognized as the fastest growing relay in North Carolina raising over $120,000 for the American Cancer Society so far in 2015.

The American Cancer Society (ACS), the parent organization of Relay For Life of Ballantyne, combines an unyielding passion with nearly a century of experience to save lives and end suffering from cancer. As a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers, ACS fights for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. ACS saves lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early; by helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis, by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking discovery, and by fighting back by rallying lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight. As the nation's largest non-governmental investor in cancer research, contributing about $3.4 billion, ACS has helped enable more than 11 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it to celebrate birthdays this year.
